Dicey Walden Rodgers
Dicey Walden Rodgers, age 77, of McDonough, Ga., passed away on October 20, 2021. Dicey was born March 9, 1944 in Lumber City, Ga.,and at age five, went to live at the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home in Hapeville, Georgia. This is where she met her adoptive parents, Alonzo “Lonnie” and Clara Belle Rape. Dicey joined the Marine Corps and was stationed at Marine Corp Headquarters in Arlington, Virginia. She married and after discharge, moved to Columbus, Ohio. Later she married Joe W. Rodgers and when Lonnie and Belle needed her, she moved back to Georgia. She was fortunate to have wonderful people like Mom and Pop and called McDonough home for the last 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe W. Rodgers.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Eastlawn Memorial Park. Rev. Joey Seabolt officiated. Coleman Ira Pickle
Mr. Coleman Ira Pickle, age 89, of McDonough, Ga., passed away October 24, 2021. Coleman was born November 13, 1931 in Smithville, Miss., to the late Andrew Carlos and Minnie Ola Higgins Pickle. Coleman faithfully served his country in the United States Army and was a retired truck driver. He was a member of the McDonough First United Methodist Church, where he and Gloria were the Youth Directors for fourteen years. He was also a life member of the United Methodist Men’s Club. He loved God and his family very much and enjoyed gardening, cooking, listening to country and gospel music, attending Shingleroof Campmeetings and volunteering for Meals on Wheels. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Gloria Faye Bush Pickle and by eleven siblings.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanie (Randy) Smith of Newnan, Ann (Bill) Cook of McDonough and Nena (Andy) Harris of Griffin; grandchildren, Jonathan (Soleil) Smith, Monica (Jimmy) Hawkins and Sophe (Dusty) Pope; great grandchildren, Ellie Ann, Mamie Cole, Hazel Lane and Gladie Pearl Pope, Ember Adaline and Colton Ira Smith; sister, Mary Roberts of Ocean Springs, Miss.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 1 p.m. at the McDonough First United Methodist Church. Interment followed at Eastlawn Memorial Park. John Charles Bussey
Charles Bussey, 75, beloved husband, father, and Papa, went home to his Lord on October 10, 2021. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on May 11, 1946, to Lois Audra Anderson and John Lamar Bussey. After graduating from Headland High School in 1964, Charles attended Georgia Tech where he was an Industrial Engineering major. Charles also played basketball at Georgia Tech and was a member of Sigma Nu. After graduating from college, Charles served as an officer in the Army for several years. He then returned to Atlanta to start his successful career as a real estate broker and developer. He also served as the President of the Atlanta Homebuilder’s Association and was active in his community coaching youth sports. Charles was married to Ginger for almost 20 years and leaves a heritage of love and kindness to his family. Ginger and Charles enjoyed traveling the world together from Australia to Japan to Bora Bora. They also delighted in spending time with their grandchildren and blessing them with love and attention.
Charles is survived by his wife, Ginger Bussey, and his children: Brooke Livingston Shannon and husband Michael Patrick Shannon; Brett Livingston Bussey; Blane Livingston Bussey; and Blake Livingston Bussey. He also is survived by his stepsons: Carl Gregory Engstrom and Dean Michael Engstrom. “Papa” will be missed by his five granddaughters: Grace Kelly Shannon; Mercy Madelyn Shannon; Bella Providence Shannon; Chole Elise Engstrom; and Ansley Elizabeth Engstrom.
The family wishes to thank Community Hospice Jacksonville Beach Area for his end-of-life care. His life will be celebrated on November 6, 2021 at 5 p.m. at Pilgreen’s Steakhouse Lake Dow, 1720 Lake Dow Rd, McDonough, Ga 30253. Peggy Ramsey Martin
Peggy Ramsey Martin, age 67, of McDonough, Ga., passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at her residence. Peggy was born in Griffin, Ga., on July 19, 1954. She formerly worked for Rita’s Pawn Shop and Griffin Pawn Shop. She was a member of McDonough Christian Church. Peggy was a kind and loving person who was willing to help and minister to anyone in need. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lamar and Nancy Ramsey, son, Tony Lamar Stallings, and brother, Dennis Ramsey.
Survivors include, husband, Lou G. Martin, daughters; Luanne Brinkley (Brian), Jana Crigler (Doug), grandchildren, Skylar Sierras (Brandon), Dane Stallings, Hunter, Haley, Hudson, Hannah, Hadley, Harrison, Hallie Kate, Kaleb and Keegan, great-grandchildren, Aurora Sierras, siblings, Sharon Ramsey McCormick (Lonnie), Cherry Ramsey Long (Billy), Bonnie Ramsey Williams (Ronnie), Rodney L. Ramsey, several nieces and nephews, also special childhood friends, Renee Bradley Smith and Cathy Lynch Taylor.
Visitation was held on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Followed by a service in the chapel.
