Residents of southern Louisiana are reeling from the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Ida that hit last week and relief efforts are underway in Henry County and across the state to provide assistance. The Henry County Board of Commissioners, the Henry County Police Department and American Legion Post 516 are collaborating with several partners in the “Convoy of Care” Hurricane Relief Effort to bring much needed supplies to the people of Louisiana.
Citizens are encouraged to donate supplies such as personal hygiene kits, batteries, cleaning supplies, box fans, flashlights, heavy duty extension cords and laundry detergent. A collection site will be set up in Henry County on Tuesday, September 14 from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. at J.P. Moseley Park and Recreation Center, located at 1041 Millers Mill Road Stockbridge, GA 30281.
NEW items requested include:
- Personal hygiene supplies
- Diapers, wipes, and other baby supplies
- Cleaning supplies and laundry detergent
- Fans/Flashlights/Batteries/Heavy duty extension cords
In addition to local partners, the Georgia Motor Trucking Association (GMTA), Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP), Georgia Sheriff’s Association (GSA), Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Pallet Works, and Atlanta Peach Movers along with Caring for Others, Inc., NOBLE and WSB-TV comprise the Convoy of Care team.
