At the Tuesday, November 24 meeting of the Stockbridge City Council Work Session the city took a step to materialize its vision for its citizens. The city agreed to bond $22 million for civic projects over the next several years. A portion of these funds will be paid by SPLOST V which citizens approved in 2019. $7 million will be used to complete the cutting edge 3,200-seat Stockbridge Amphitheatre Project currently under construction adjacent to Stockbridge City Hall.

An additional $14 million will be allocated for a contemporary cultural arts center that will be located a few blocks from City Hall off of North Henry Boulevard and West Burke Street. The cultural arts center project will entail a large ballroom, a theater conducive for plays, concerts and other community productions. In addition, the center will house space conducive for the arts and ballet. It is also slated to include a museum to capture the rich vibrant history of the City of Stockbridge. An additional $1 million will be devoted to trails which have become known as linear parks to enhance citizens’ ability to navigate the City and enjoy the wonderful recreational opportunities in the area.
