Let us pray

Well, that’s how I always approach a serious matter, and we are really going through some hard times this year. I’m glad we have our brave medical professionals trying to tackle this strange issue and also thankful for our many hard workers keeping stores open, delivering food all over the USA, and lots more. I’m not sure how much longer this COVID thing is going to be around, but have already seen so many fun things go by the wayside. Sigh.

I hated missing the Geranium Festival. I always enjoy seeing the neat booths, tasting delicious food and just enjoying a wonderful time in McDonough. I noticed that the Perry Fair won’t be open this year either. It’s sad that the Peachtree Road Race will be done virtually only, on Thanksgiving Day. I didn’t think it could get much worse and then I saw an announcement that there would not be a Christmas Parade this year! I wonder if Macy’s will have their annual joy in Atlanta that I can at least watch on television?

It has been an interesting year though. Two doctors changed my appointments from an office visit to a phone call, and both of them called me thirty minutes early! Their offices had already sent my bloodwork requirements to Lab Corp and Quest and I did do that in person. I went to my heart doctor’s office, but chairs were all marked not to use except every six feet. Of course my chiropractor’s chairs are all placed six feet apart and we no longer sign ourselves in, but just let the lady behind the desk enter our names in her computer. My favorite swimming pool is closed and has been all summer, even covered so no one can enter the cool blue.

I’m still missing church too and thankful a former pastor has his services available online. We can mail our tithes to Mt. Bethel and also make arrangements to pick up our Upper Rooms so we can have that daily pleasure. Our pastor still keeps us aware of any ailing fellow Methodists via the Calling Post. Some of us keep in touch via Facebook too. I’m also missing the library, a lot!

I am so grateful for the internet, Facebook, cell phones, and I couldn’t do without my newspapers; they help us keep up to date on the latest in our town, county and state. I’m enjoying watching the Braves, but it is odd there are no fans in the stands behind them. Yes, I am thankful for television too, as that helps me keep entertained, and up to date.

Usually I keep a log in my Bible and update prayer requests there too. But with all the 2020 issues, I am filling up more pages and quicker. Did put this year in my “Something For Jesus To Do” box, along with my most dire prayer needs. I do believe prayer will help us get through this. We ALL need to get on our knees, lift up this country, and the world for healing, safety and that we all love one another, right now. I borrowed those sweet words from a song years ago and still include it in my morning walk and talk with God.

Of course I always pray for all our medical angels, plus our heroes in uniform who protect us day after day after day. We are blessed to live in these times, with them, plus all the modern technology that helps us survive. Imagine what it would have been like if this had come up in the fifties. I’m so glad He has led us into this modern age! Remember … let us pray. Thanks.
