  After more than two months of being closed due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, the Henry County Parks and Recreation Department is scheduled to begin its re-opening plan to its facilities and park amenities beginning June 8. Playgrounds, fields and parks were closed at the onset of the pandemic in Henry County in order to safeguard citizens and flatten the curve of the coronavirus.

  The scheduled dates for re-openings are listed below:

  June 8 – All parks open. Athletic fields open for practice only and participants must maintain social distancing and follow guidelines set forth from the Parks & Recreation Department in conjunction with the CDC, the Department of Public Health (DPH), the National Parks and Recreation Association (NRPA), the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) and the Governor’s Office.

  June 15 – Recreation Centers open (limited hours, limited capacity, follow guidelines set forth from the Parks and Recreation Department in conjunction with the CDC, DPH, NRPA and the Governor’s Office)

  •   Pavilions open and park rentals available (must maintain social distancing and follow guidelines)
  •   CNAs (Certified Nursing Assistants) will resume services to seniors

  July 6 – Senior Centers open (limited hours, limited capacity, following guidelines set forth by the Senior Services Department in conjunction with the CDC, DPH, and the Governor’s Office)

  July 13 – Playgrounds open at parks. Access to games and tournaments along with the Village Park Splash Pad will be permitted after Georgia State of Emergency has been lifted, expected by July 12.
