Here is an old story I thought I’d share with you and hopefully you will get a chuckle out of it.
There was a doctor who had his office on the town square in a small village. He lived close enough to walk home every evening.
A few doors down on the corner of the square was a tavern and the doctor liked to stop in every night around 5:10 to have a drink before walking home.
Now the doctor became very fond of almond daiquiris because the bartender, whose name was Dick, would make the drink and ground some fresh almonds to garnish the top. This was a great touch and it became the doctor’s regular drink.
So one evening as five o’clock approached, the bartender began
getting the almond daiquiri ready. Low and behold, to his surprise, the bar was out of almonds for the garnish. It was already 5:08 and there would not be enough time to get to a grocery store to buy more almonds.
The bartender ran back to the kitchen and luckily there were some hickory nuts back there, so he returned to the bar and ground them as garnish for the drink.
At exactly 5:10 the doctor entered the tavern and sat at his usual spot on the bar. As always, the drink was ready for him to enjoy after a long day in the office.
He made some small talk with the bartender and then picked up his drink and took a sip. He hesitated and then took a second sip. A look of bewilderment was on the doctor’s face when he asked,
“Is this an almond daiquiri, Dick?” “No, its a hickory daiquiri, Doc.” he replied.
