Thanks to Buddy Upchurch, who wrote, “this photo is from approximately 1960 or earlier. In the foreground is Dr. G.R. Fosters office which has now been expanded and occupied by Dr. Derrell Anglyn. The background building is Hood’s Hosiery Mill at the corner of Hwy. 155/Hood St. The woods to the left are now a laundromat and Pippens BBQ. The property beyond that where the house is would later be the location of Upchurch Service Station facing Covington St. It has changed quite a bit, hasn’t it?” Thanks also to David Bledsoe and Bo Simpson for calling in to correctly identify the photo.
I was told that the corner store was located on Hwy 81 east and North Ola, where they are putting the new Publix.
Not sure where this was, but the signs are PRICELESS!!
