  A trio of events are slated for this weekend to mark Veterans Day in Henry County.

  •Stockbridge will host an annual parade and luncheon Friday at 10 a.m., to honor local veterans. The Grand Marshal and keynote speaker for the occasion will be Dr. Rosalyn Bell-Mathews, who retired from the U.S. Navy.

  Parade spectators can line up along North Henry Boulevard near Stockbridge City Hall. Due to street closings, spectators are encouraged to be parked no later than 9:30 a.m. Free parking is available at City Hall and Stockbridge Elementary School. The parade is free and open to the public.

  The luncheon will be at the Merle Manders Conference Center, 111 North Davis Road. It is open to all veterans and their guests. Veterans are asked to confirm attendance by e-mailing bbradley@cityofstockbridge-ga.gov. The luncheon is free, and space is limited.

  •Henry County Parks and Recreation will host its annual Veterans Day ceremony Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Wall of Honor at Heritage Park, 101 Lake Dow Road in McDonough. U.S. Army Command Sergeant Major (Retired) Johnny L. Dorsey, Sr., will be the guest speaker at the event. Dorsey served in the military for more than 32 years. Dorsey entered active duty in June of 1978. He held several leadership positions while on assignments worldwide, earning awards and decorations throughout his military career. Dorsey retired from the United States Army in June of 2010.

  The service will include a Presentation of the Colors by Henry County Combined Honor Guard. The event will also feature the presentation of a memorial wreath, the singing of the National Anthem and “God Bless America.”

  The Strong Rock Christian School Band will conduct a service song medley. Additional performers will include Henry County Firefighter and bagpipe musician Travis Miller. Jim Houston of Bugles Across America will close the service with “Taps.”

  •American Legion Post 516 will host their annual Veterans Day Luncheon on Saturday, November 10 beginning at 1 p.m. Military veterans who have served their country will be honored with a luncheon at the Shiloh Baptist Church, Family Life Center which is located at 262 Macon Street in McDonough.

  The guest speaker for this event will be Captain Steven S. Andrews (United States Marine Corps Retired).   •American Legion Post No. 330 will round out the remembrances with a separate Veterans Day Service Saturday at 11 a.m., at the Hampton Train Depot.
