  The Henry County Sheriff’s Office hosted their Fall Classic Golf Tournament on Monday, September 9.

  The tournament was held to raise money to benefit the children of fallen officers, Chase Maddox and Michael Smith.

  Officer Chase Maddox was shot and killed when assisting two Henry County Sheriff’s Office deputies serve a warrant at a residence on St. Francis Court.

  Officer Michael Smith was shot during a confrontation with a man in a dentist’s office in McDonough. Smith was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries.

  As a result of their fundraising efforts on behalf of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, they were able to raise $118,000 for the children of the officers.

  Sheriff Keith McBrayer, with assistance from Shannon Parson of ‘Remembering Officers Children,’ made the presentation to the families on Monday, October 7 at the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

  Both families received a check for $59,000.

  “As sheriff, I thank everyone that donated or helped with this worthy cause. This will make a huge difference in these young children’s lives,” said Henry County Sheriff Keith McBrayer.
