In an effort to preserve some of the history of our community, The Times is displaying photos of Henry County from the past. If you can tell us anything about the photo shown above, use this form. In the next edition, we’ll reveal the details of the picture and notes readers send us.

A special thanks to Sandra Petit for bringing this photograph to us. Buddy Upchurch wrote, “judging by the Gulftane (cheap economy gas) price, I’d say around 1967. Some Henry County High School Beauties riding atop the McDonough Fire truck in the Christmas Parade. This is at the intersection of Macon and Hampton streets on the Square. The former Joiner Bros. Gulf Station is now the city parking lot adjacent to Scoops Ice Cream Shop. Apparently that wall has never been able to hold paint or plaster, as it has always fallen off over the years.” Chuck Kimbell wrote, “the photo in the October 23 issue was one of the City of McDonough Christmas Parades featuring the antique fire engine belonging to the City of McDonough FD. Glad to see that the volunteers refurbished that old truck to its glory.”

Seth Jackson is an extremely dedicated editor and has the “inside scoop” on Henry County considering he was born and bred here and has dedicated his working career to making Henry better and reporting the truth always. I wish other news outlets would take a lesson from his family’s tradition as honest publishers of the news. Thanks Seth and Family.
