During the celebration of United Methodist Women’s Day on April 28 at McDonough First United Methodist Church, McDonough Mayor Billy Copeland presented a proclamation to the church in honor of the 150th anniversary this year of United Methodist Women (UMW).

United Methodist Women, the laywomen’s mission organization of the United Methodist Church, traces its founding to 1869 in Boston. Today there are some 800,000 United Methodist Women serving in local churches across the U.S.
