Communities In Schools (CIS) of Georgia in Henry County, part of the state’s premier model for student supports and dropout prevention, will host its annual fundraising golf event May 31 at Lake Spivey Golf Club to benefit students in need of critical wraparound services provided by CIS.
Although this is the seventh year of the golf event, it has a new name, a new venue and a new concept this year. Communities ‘Fore’ Kids Golf Challenge – recognized as ‘Not Your Grandfather’s Golf Tournament’ will feature challenges at five of the nine holes – including ‘Golf Like a Flamingo’ and even a Ski Ball competition hosted by Nail Heating and Air Conditioning. There will also be a Best Dressed division and First Backwards Hit contest. A shotgun start is slated for 1 p.m., and the Back Nine Par-Tee at Albatross Public House will kick off at 4 p.m. with more awards, food and live music. Team registration is open, and sponsorship opportunities are still available. Event details can be found at cishenry.org/events/ golf-tournament or you can follow announcements on the Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/CISHenry/.
