  On February 6 at 11 a.m., storyteller Josie Bailey will perform at the Fortson Public Library, 61 McDonough St., in Hampton. Bailey presents original stories and beloved works for all ages. Her stories often reflect history and her African-American roots. She will be performing again February 21 at 2 p.m., at the McDonough Public Library, 101 Florence McGarity Blvd.

  On February 8 from 7-9 p.m., the library system will host a More Love Letters event at Queen Bee Coffee Company, 58 Griffin St., in McDonough. Participants will have an opportunity to create love letters or Valentines, and to sign-up for a library card or check out a book from the library. Participants are encouraged to write a letter for a special someone, a friend or a stranger. Letters written to strangers will be collected and given out on Valentine’s Day. All supplies will be provided.

  On February 11 from 2-6 p.m., the McDonough Public Library will host a Community Assistance Resource Day. Attendees will be able to learn about resources from organizations including the Hands of Hope Clinic, Metro Fair Housing, Amerigroup, and Metamorphosis.

  On February 16 from 1-2:30 p.m., Cochran Library, at 174 Burke St., in Stockbridge, will host the Flat Rock Archives for a presentation titled “Preserving and Sharing Rural African – American History in Georgia.”

  On February 21 at 6:30 p.m., the McDonough Public Library will host a family-friendly Black History Celebration featuring games, stories and a presentation on Africa.   On February 25 from 6-7 p.m., the McDonough Public Library will host the Georgia Student Finance Commission a college planning session. The event is recommended for high-school juniors and seniors, as well as their parents or guardians. Topics include scholarships, grants, loans, dual enrollment and how to fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
