During it’s December meeting, the Andrew McBride Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recognized one Senior student from high schools in Henry County as a Good Citizen Award Recipient.
Each of these students possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. Students are selected by their teachers and guidance counselors because they demonstrate these qualities to an outstanding degree. The chosen student then has the opportunity to enter an essay contest for a monetary award issued by the Chapter.
For the 2018-2019 school year, thirteen high schools participated in recognizing a Good Citizen Student and of those, twelve participated in the essay contest.
Matthew McCracken of Strong Rock Christian School was selected as this year’s essay winner.
His essay has been sent to the next entry level; the Northwest District of the State of Georgia.
Those present at the meeting were Matthew McCracken – Strong Rock Christian School, Eric Peterson – Locust Grove High School, Kaitlyn Rogers – Bible Baptist Christian School, and Donni Anderson – Eagle’s Landing High School.
