The Henry County Board of Commissioners recognized the County’s Parks and Recreation Department, which was recently named Georgia Recreation and Parks Association’s (GRPA) District 6 2022 Agency of the Year. Several outstanding Parks and Recreation employees were also honored by the GRPA during its annual statewide conference. The recognition came at the November 29 Commission meeting.

Staff members honored include:

Jonathon “J.P.” Penn, who leads Henry County’s Public and Leisure Services Cluster, was named the 2022 District 6 Distinguished Professional of the Year.

Assistant Director Donna Holder was named the 2022 District 6 Administrative Leadership Distinguished Professional of the Year and also recognized for 35 years of service with GRPA.

Tyron Williams as the 2022 State Volunteer of the Year.

James “Bull” Martin as the 2022 District 6 Athletics/Aquatics Distinguished Professional of the Year.

Thomas White as the 2022 State Administrator Leadership Network Distinguished Professional of the Year.

Harlon Matthews as the 2022 ASPIRE Founders Award for Extraordinary Program for Design and Advocacy for Athletes with Disabilities.

Chris Colmenero as the 2022 District 6 Maintenance/Operations Distinguished Professional of the Year.

Michelle Dunn for 20 years of Service with the GRPA.
