The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted at its October 4 regular meeting to approve the $399,642 purchase of six 2023 Dodge 4500 Ambulance vehicles utilizing American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.

Other public safety actions included the $55,213 purchase of heavy apparatus lifts for Henry County Fire Rescue and the adoption of an ordinance requested by the Henry County Police Department regarding Live Scan fingerprints for applicants, employees or volunteers seeking employment with the county. The ordinance allows the HCPD to submit an applicant’s fingerprints to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for comparison to the Georgia Crime Information Center.  

The board approved two resolutions for the addition of one streetlight to an existing street light district for Mathis Place at Pembrooke Park on Willow Lane and the addition of two lights to an existing street light district for Stanford Park on Airline Road.  

Commissioners approved a $167,087 contract for the creation and hosting of a new ADA-compliant county website, as well as a 48-month agreement for laser printers at $15,281 per month.

A $1,498,459 grant from the Department of Natural Resources- Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Program in the amount of $1,498,459 was accepted for the Stormwater Department, which will be required to cash match a total of $607,220 and will include in-kind match donations from other partners in the amount of $45,000.  

The grant will be used to assist Henry County in designing and building a passive recreational park to include approximately 2.4 miles of trails and boardwalk system, a kayak launch and wildlife viewing platforms. The entire project is expected to cost approximately $2.1 million.

The board approved a modification to a master development plan changing a commercial pod to an office-institutional pod for a 4.4-acre site at the intersection of Westridge Parkway and Enterprise Parkway. Plans for the site include an assisted living facility. The request was approved unanimously.

Also approved was a master development plan modification request regarding the location and configuration of commercial and industrial pods on a 53-acre tract on the east side of Hwy. 155 South, east of Prologis Park Road, slated for an industrial development. That vote was also unanimous.

Vera Gordon-Burns was appointed to the Council on Aging as the District 1 representative.

Chief Superior Court Judge Brian Amero was appointed to the Region 6 Advisory Council for the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities.
