Past rescues and hope for the future

Yes, He rescued me SO many times! It didn’t occur to me as the bank robbers fled the bank that God had told co-worker Ruby to kick her big pasteboard box into the break room and make enough noise to scare the bad guys with the guns. I also wasn’t thanking God as I suddenly saw a semi heading straight for my 87 Eurosport and darted into the lane that was meant for entrance onto I-75, but which happened to be totally empty that day. I am so glad my Chevy had a powerful engine and we survived what would have been a major wreck. Earlier, I did go out in the back yard and pray as I wondered how I would survive a divorce with three infant sons and no job. God fixed that too, and next thing I knew my former boss hired me back at First National Bank and sent me to the Oldsmobile dealership to pick out a car. He’d already alerted me about a customer who needed a childcare job too. Looking back, He had to have been in charge. Praise the Lord (PTL)!

I had several wrecks over the years, and though my vehicles didn’t make it, I survived without a scratch! I didn’t think to look up and thank Him as I got out and also saw that the driver that had hit me wasn’t hurt either. Am I just a lucky lady? Not completely, for a lot of it has to do with His miraculous ways.

And this all came back to me this morning as I finished my December In Touch Daily passages by Dr. Charles Stanley. And I quote “Think about your own history with God. Times He showed up for you in miraculous ways, big or small. How does having a collection of past testimonies impact the way you trust Him now? What stories can you pass on to future generations to inspire hope in God’s faithfulness?” Thank you, Dr. Stanley, for making me think of those awesome rescues. I’m so glad I discovered these devotions, and yes, I’m sure God pointed me toward finding this morning blessing.

I don’t really recall the rabid dog that bit me nor the shots I received in my tummy for 21 days, but very glad we had a compassionate doctor plus a dedicated animal control leader who made sure the aggressive animal was given all the appropriate tests. God made sure Butts County and Jackson, Georgia had what I needed to survive that attack too.

Years later, and this time I prayed, we learned our daughter wasn’t happy with her very strict leader as she began a career in the Army. I got on the computer before taking off to my morning job and read a joke from a fellow Methodist. And something told me he knew how to find the solution we needed. I emailed him my office number, and sure enough, via God I’m sure, Byron called me with the information. Next miracle from above, a former co-worker had just gone to work at our cardiologist’s office, and when I called to ask for medical records, I was immediately transferred to Cindy. Within a few minutes, everything was in place and we were soon able to pick up our missing dear at the Atlanta airport.    Very blessed that I’ve always been a saved, praying Christian and now looking back, I see how many times He’s protected and healed. So, next BIG prayer involves elected officials and this country, county and state plus our heroes in uniform. It’s time, folks, that we ALL obey His book, and then keep talking to Him. May 2019 be the return of love and peace, for all.
