Henry County homeowners now have another option to apply for the Homestead Exemption through a new feature on the Tax Commissioner’s website.
Homeowners can now apply for the homestead exemption online, saving time and adding convenience. The purpose of the homestead exemption is to reduce the tax burden for homeowners, as Henry County has exemptions that exceed the state’s exemptions. If you own your home and reside in it from January 1 of the year you are applying for the exemption, the exemption helps to reduce the tax on your home.
Tax Commissioner Michael Harris said this will ease the burden and make the process easier on Henry County residents.
“Over the past year we have been working to expand our online services, and the addition of the Homestead Application now being available to submit online is another example of our commitment to easing the burden of our residents and making it as easy as possible to take advantage of the tax discount offered through the County’s Homestead Exemption Program.” said Harris
The deadline to file is April 1, 2022 to receive Homestead exemption for the current calendar year.
