My morning started out with a nice visit from my son Ron. I love getting to know what’s going on with my adult grandkids, plus other family too. It was neat to hear about the upcoming golfing too. It was a delightful visit and we always get to share a memory or two.
After lunch I got a call from my grandson Tyler inviting me to go to the Mainstreet Market in downtown McDonough with him and his friend Alexis. I had a good time checking out all the items for sale from local vendors. I got to listen to Henley Varner’s wonderful music too. I didn’t make any purchases but I loved sniffing the candles and the lotions. I got in my daily miles just walking and enjoying the neat display of goods and seeing all of the smiles, plus hearing good songs.
When I was back home, I mixed a bag of Fresh Express Kale salad with chunks of chopped cabbage with a bag of nuts and raisins and some poppyseed dressing. I already had a large container of Publix New York style potato salad, plus their sweetened tea. I did a little more dusting, then settled back with my latest James Patterson novel while I waited for my next visitors to arrive.
And along came daughter Sam and Mike with a bag of Zaxby’s pleasure. I love their fried green tomatoes and fried chicken fingers. We had a quick prayer and then dug into the joy. We had a great time dining, talking and laughing, plus sharing some sweet memories. We didn’t get to watch the Braves, due to another rainout. But it was a very nice visit which I always enjoy.
I’d already had a great conversation with son Leslie as we discussed how we’d scored playing Jeopardy along with the contestants on their show. I always keep my score on a little pad, and sometimes I actually beat the winner! But it is a lot easier sitting here on the couch than standing between competitors and using a clicking device. I also keep score as I play along with Wheel of Fortune. It’s neat that I get to learn something on the Jeopardy showings too.
I talked to my son Don earlier in the week. So, I got to hear from ALL my dears plus see some sweet faces too. Naturally we always catch up on family, plus share some wonderful memories. We like to discuss cars too, and what’s going on with our elected officials and our county. I wish our president could take some lessons from Henry County and Georgia officials about keeping our economy in the black. I pray every morning for our economy and our finances in America.
I wanted to have a little more fun so I went out to the car and found a couple of my favorite CD recordings, done by Norman. I listened to CCR, the Eagles, Wilson Pickett’s Mustang Sally, and lots more joys from the past. They say listening to music is good for our mental health and gives us some peace. I love listening to the radio and enjoy some country, gospel music Saturday mornings, and a wide array of joyful sounds.
I replaced the CD and turned on my favorite radio station. Then I selected a book from my latest library visit. “Second Time Around” by Melody Carlson is very interesting, and doesn’t lose my short attention span. I noticed she has many other books, some centered on Christmas. I’m glad I keep finding new authors at my library. I went to a book club meeting this week, but hadn’t read the book they were discussing so I will be better prepared for the next class gathering. I’m glad my grandmother got me started reading and am so thankful for our public libraries!
