A $43,092 expenditure for blood pressure kiosks for community use as part of a wellness initiative was among the measures approved by the Henry County Board of Commissioners at its September 7 regular meeting.

The purchase and set-up of six Health Bot kiosks at various county facilities was given the green light, along with additional four blood pressure monitors costing $28,278 for installation at the county’s four senior centers. They are being funded with ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funds.

The board also approved a $25,000 allocation from the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association Building Opportunities in Out-of-School Time Grants Program. This funding will be used to operate comprehensive after-school programming in the county, according to officials.

The commissioners adopted the Georgia Department of Transportation Procurement Policy while also approving $100,000 in local grant match SPLOST funds designated for the Henry County Library Board regarding the state grant-funded renovation project at the headquarters library in McDonough.

After applying for a 90/10 capital outlay grant, the library system received $900,000 in state funding with a local match required. The library renovation is an approved project under the county’s SPLOST program.
