If you are going to a local high school football game in the next few weeks and are not properly prepared, gaining entry to the stadium could be as tedious as going through airport security.

The Henry County Board of Education posted August 4 on its Facebook page its guidelines for visitors carrying items to all district athletic events, using a graphic that contains the words “CLEAR BAGS REQUIRED” in large letters at the top.

“To ensure a safe and orderly environment for events, Henry County Schools is providing guidance on the types of bags that are permissible inside of the the venues,” according to the post. “To expedite entry into the venues and for the purpose of public safety, friends and family members are strongly encouraged not to bring bags of any type.”

But if you do, tinted or opaque bags will not be permitted. Bags must be clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and not exceed 12 by 12 by 6 inches.

One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags are acceptable. Small, pocket-sized wallets are allowed in clear bags.

All bags will be subject to search and/or review by hand inspection, according to officials.

Anyone who has questions about the policy is instructed to direct them to the athletic director.
