A man convicted in a Henry County court of multiple sex crimes faces a possible 20 years in prison.
A jury needed only two hours to deliberate July 14 before returning guilty verdicts against Jarrett Leopard on 20 counts of sexual exploitation of children. The charges stemmed from Leopard’s possession of child pornography, including images of toddlers being sexually assualted, according to the Henry County District Attorney’s Office.
Leopard is scheduled to be sentenced August 8 by Henry County Superior Court Judge Pandora Palmer. In addition to the possible two decades behind bars, he faces lifetime registration as a sex offender.
The Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force began investigating Leopard after he uploaded several child pornography images from his McDonough home to a public photo-sharing website. Police later got a search warrant and found more than 900 images of child pornography on Leopard’s cell phone.
“Jurors heard evidence on Wednesday that child pornography is a growing problem across Georgia and the state investigated more than 15,000 cases of child pornography last year,” said District Attorney Darius Pattillo. “That is why we have several prosecutors and investigators who serve on the national ICAC team to prosecute child pornography.”
The case was prosecuted by assistant district attorneys Megan Matteucci and Jodi Spiegel of the Crimes Against Children unit, both of whom serve on the ICAC Task Force.
