Here is a rundown of what happened at the McDonough City Council’s July 7 regular meeting.
Two separate resolutions supporting the adoption of the Henry County Joint Transportation Plan and the Henry County Joint Trails Plan were approved. The vote was 6-1 with Vanessa Thomas in opposition.
Finance Director Frank Milazi discussed a 2020 resolution 20-03-30 whereby loans were provided through the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) to assist local businesses during the pandemic. He noted that one qualified business loan had not been completed due to there not being enough members of the DDA to hold a meeting, so he requested that the transaction be authorized so that the loan process can be completed on behalf of the merchant. That motion passed unanimously.
The council voted unanimously to authorize Mayor Sandra Vincent to accept funding in the amount of $50,417, through the Georgia Power Electric Transportation Make Ready Program, for charging system infrastructure.
A resolution was approved amending the city’s zoning ordinance to include “automotive car wash (accessory use only)” as a permitted use in C-2 zoning and “automotive car wash (full service or self-service)” as a permitted use in C-3 zoning.
The city’s audit for the year ending June 30, 2021 was presented to the council. A copy of the audit is available on the city’s website or can be reviewed in the city clerk’s office.
After an executive session, the council voted to accept a $30,000 bid from Terrance Wilson for the purchase of city-owned property located at 1261 McGarity Road.
