The Henry County Board of Commissioners issued a proclamation at the April 5 Board of Commissioners meeting honoring Lindy Farmer upon the occasion of his recent retirement from the Henry County Water Authority.
Farmer, who retired as General Manager, has been with the Water Authority for 40 of its 60 years in existence, and under his leadership, the Henry County Water Authority has won countless facility and system awards, most recently the GAWWA Plant of the Year Award for the Tussahaw Water Treatment Plant, which is a three-time selection as Georgia’s Water Plant of the Year, and the Authority has received the GAWP Platinum Award for 14 consecutive years.
The proclamation read in part, “Always encouraging his staff to reach new heights through participation in trade and professional organizations and continuing education, Farmer was instrumental in transforming the Henry County Water Authority from a small rural system to a major metropolitan modern water utility … Now therefore, be it proclaimed, that the Henry County Board of Commissioners wishes to congratulate Lindy Farmer, Jr. on a long and successful career and express its sincerest appreciation to him for providing exceptional service to the County and its citizens for the past 40 years.”
Commission Chair Carlotta Harrell gave a heartfelt thank you to Farmer for his outstanding service to Henry County.
“I want to personally say thank you for what you have done for Henry County. The citizens of this county should be grateful for your leadership and for leaving a team that can carry on all of the works that you set forth. So thank you for that,” said Harrell.
Farmer accepted his proclamation to a standing ovation, surrounded by family, friends and HCWA staff.
