Betty Jean Hargett
Betty Jean Hargett, born May 7, 1938, age 83, of Stockbridge, Ga., a spirited and gracious woman, closed her eyes to this life, and opened them in heaven on Saturday, March 12, 2022. She was dearly loved by her family. Betty was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Stockbridge. GA. She was retired from Baptist Inn Retirement Home where she loved all the residents and they loved her. Betty loved to be outdoors, working in the yard, gardening, crafts, shopping, vacations in the mountains, historic sites, canning, game shows, Family Feud, Dancing with the Stars, America’s Funniest Videos, word searches, the Gaither’s, watching YouTube funnies and music, cooking for the family, and her grandchildren. She loved to gamble with her son before they repented and enjoyed fishing with Aunt Jean and the kids in the 1970s. She enjoyed Facetime with Junior most every night at 7, following family on Facebook, and was very uplifting and entertaining. If we were in discussion and wanted to know more, she would say “google it.” Betty loved baseball and was an avid Brave’s fan. Betty was the eldest child of four. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, Aunt, cousin and a lifelong, loyal friend to many. Betty loved her family and always stepped up to help when needed. Some dear friends called her Moma and some of her cousins called her Aunt Betty. She loved everybody and would always say, if she had the money, she would open a home for the orphaned children and call it Grannie’s Place. Our world will be empty until we meet again. So, until then, Mom, we will love you forever! She was preceded in death by her parents, George E. and Carrie Jewel Pierce of Stockbridge, Ga.; her husband, Ralph Hargett; her brothers, Troy Pierce and Jimmy Pierce.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, daughter, Robin Gibson of Hampton, Ga., and her son, David Hargett of Stockbridge, Ga.; her granddaughter, Christy (Spencer) Pickett and great-grandson, David Spencer Pickett Junior and adopted great-grandson, Braylen Pickett of Covington, Ga.; her brother, Roy (Brenda) Pierce of Melbourne, Fla.; Aunt, Emily D’Onofrio of Acworth; Uncle, Dan Harris (Victoria) of Monticello; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, 2580 Hwy. 42 N, McDonough, Ga., with Rev. Larry Sutton officiating. Bradford Dwayne James
Bradford Dwayne James, age 73, passed away on March 28, 2022. Brad was born in San Diego, Calif., to the late Kenneth James and Willie James McCrary, but moved to Stockbridge at the age of eight years old. Brad graduated as valedictorian of his class from Stockbridge High School in 1967. He graduated from Georgia Southern University then earned his masters from Georgia State University. He then began his almost 30-year career with the Henry County the Board of Education. He was principal of HC Junior High and was asked to be principal of Eagles Landing HS when it opened. Brad was very respected by his peers. Brad loved researching his family history on ancestry.com He also loved living on Justice Lake in his cabin. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his siblings, Charlotte, Janan and Keith.
Brad was a great son to his parents; he loved his siblings and his precious nieces and nephews. Brad is survived by his twin sister, Brenda (Carl) of Warne, N.C. and his sister, Shirley Sanchez (formerly from San Diego) of Warne, N.C. Nieces and nephews Jeff (Janet), Jessica (Matt), Jennifer, Justin, Jason, Michelle, Carla and great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by longtime friends Bruce and Debbie Towson who were there for him in his final days.
