Here is a roundup of action taken by the Henry County Board of Commissioners at its March 1 regular meeting:
A resolution was unanimously approved awarding a $1,841,742 contract to Kone, Inc. to supply elevator repair, modernization and related products to obtain compliance of elevators located in all county buildings. The project is being financed with capital improvement funds.

A resolution was passed to approve the bid for the purchase of suppressors and rails and declare surplus the trade-in of weapons and ammunition in inventory from Quiet Riot for the Henry County Police Department SWAT team. After purchase and trade-in of surplus equipment, the county will have a credit amount of $4,520 to use in store or payable by check. A separate resolution was approved regarding a trade of assets between Henry County Police Department and Butts County Sheriff’s Department.

Two separate agreements with the ACCG Civic Affairs Foundation were approved for the hiring of interns this summer to perform zoning and transportation planning projects.

The board approved a reimbursement agreement with Snapping Shoals EMC for Fairview Road not to exceed $24,000. Also approved was a $63,563 change order from J.R. Bowman Construction Co. for remediating unsuitable soil on the ramp adjacent to the new FBO/Terminal Building at the Atlanta Speedway Airport.

A rezoning request was approved for a 3.194-acre site at 1376 Old Conyers Road to allow a residential lot split. The property was rezoned from residential-agricultural and neighborhood commercial to single-family residential. A condition was included requiring the homes to be at least 1,600 square feet of heated space.
