Following the February 15 Commission meeting, Chair Carlotta Harrell appointed Derrell Anglyn III as the interim District III Commissioner. The District III Commission seat was left vacant after Greg Cannon tendered his resignation at the beginning of the February 1 regular Commissioner meeting.

Harrell made the appointment after the Board failed to choose a candidate from a list of names submitted by the Henry County Republican Party as was required by law. The appointment will run through December 21, 2022.

A native of McDonough, Anglyn is a graduate of Mercer University and has been employed by Edward Jones Investment since 2014 as a financial advisor and is a partner with the investment advisory firm.

Anglyn said he is committed to serving the Henry County community. “It really is an honor to stand here and serve a community that my family has been a part of since I was a child,” he said. “My commitment is to the community.”

Anglyn will be sworn into the Board of Commissioners later this week by Probate Judge Kelley Powell.
