On Saturday, November 20 at 10 a.m., the Genealogical Society of Henry and Clayton Counties will host a meeting on Cemetery Preservation and Restoration.
A question and answer session will follow. The meeting is free, and all are welcome.
The meeting will be held at First Baptist Church of McDonough’s Fellowship Hall, 101 Macon Street, McDonough.
Leroy Gardner will speak on the history of cemeteries in Georgia, and their preservation, documentation, and restoration. If you are concerned about an endangered cemetery, or own land where a cemetery is present, this presentation will give you the information you need to help preserve these valuable cultural assets. Mr. Gardner has worked with cemeteries in and outside of Georgia and has extensive experience in documenting their history and in grave location.
