The Henry County Board of Commissioners approved a rezoning request for Eagles Landing IL-AL Investors, LLC from C-2 (General Commercial) to OI (Office-Institutional) at the October 19 Commission meeting.

The property consists of 7.975 acres, and the request was for an assisted living facility. District IV Commissioner Vivian Thomas initiated the action and vetted the company to ensure sustainability with their previous developments.

“Our project team has had the privilege of meeting with Commissioner Thomas and we respect her dedication and commitment to responsible growth within the community” said Cameron Swengel, Development Manager for Smith/Packett.

Thomas urged support from fellow commissioners to support the approval of the rezoning request and spoke on her vetting of the company. “Board of Commissioners I would certainly like to receive your support on having this development come to Henry County” she said. “It is a $45 million plus development that would come and add to the tax base here in the county, we have had a couple of meetings already vetting this company, I have sent them questions, they answered every question to ensure they are doing what is necessary to take care of our senior population” she emphasized.

Thomas has made it her mission to brand District IV as the medical hub of Henry County by attracting medical and professional businesses to the area, which complement the medical community already in place. Thomas said the new assisted living facility will bring hundreds of jobs to the area.

The assisted living facility will be approximately four stories and 200,000 square feet. The community will offer several amenities, including a central dining room for each level of care, pub, bistro, library, theatre, billiards, fitness center, physical therapy and outdoor patios and will be available for assisted living, independent living, and memory care.
