Homer Milton Jinks
Homer Milton Jinks, age 88, of Blairsville, Ga., formerly of McDonough, passed away September 13, 2021. Homer was born April 2, 1933 in McDonough, Ga., to the late Doyle Akin and Lucinda Upchurch Jinks. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was owner of H.M. Jinks Company and was a great wood worker and carpenter. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Union County and a lifelong member of the United Methodist Men. He had started and volunteered for the church homebound ministry; was a member of the American Legion #55; ate breakfast six days a week at Chick-fil-A and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Ellen Rowden Jinks and by siblings, Jesse Jinks and Dorine Green.
Survivors include his children, Brenda (Brian) Canady of McDonough and Milton (Linda) Jinks of Blairsville; grandchildren, Crystal (Mike) Elster, Daniel (Sarah) Canady, Anna (Robert) Moody and Ellen Jinks; great grandchildren, Catherine and Shaan; siblings, Mindy (Charles) Clotfelter of McDonough, Lucile Tomberlin of Deland, Fla., Bobby (Hazel) Jinks of McDonough and Aaron Jinks of Griffin; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Friday, September 17, 2021 in the Haisten Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Fairview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made to the First United Methodist Church of Union County or the Veterans Support Group in McDonough. Cynthia Carter Holder
Cynthia Carter “Cindy” Holder, age 72, of Locust Grove, Ga., passed away on September 19, 2021. Cindy was born April 26, 1949 in Decatur, Ga., to the late William Lanier and Martha Ellen Brown Carter. She was raised in Locust Grove, graduated from Henry County High School in 1967 and attended Middle Georgia College. She was raised in the Locust Grove Baptist Church and joined New Hope United Methodist Church in 1970 and Locust Grove United Methodist Church in 2016. She enjoyed spending time with her family, children and grandchildren and loved working with young children. She sewed, cross stitched, had a green thumb with flowers and loved trips to the ocean.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Warren Holder; children, Tammy Holder Cook and her husband Buster, and Warren Carter (Scoot) Holder and his wife Dana Holder, all of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Ellen Nunn and her husband Colton, John Carter Holder, Allison Cook and Timmy Holder; aunts, Marie Roberts and Jean Peeler; step-mother, Gladys Carter.
Funeral services were held on Friday, September 24, 2021 in the Haisten Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Locust Grove Cemetery. James Robert Tullis
Mr. James Robert Tullis, age 71, of McDonough, Ga., passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021, at his residence. James was born on Monday, July 10, 1950, in Jefferson, Ga., to the late Robert Lamar Tullis and the late Edna Esterline Snellings Tullis. James was a member of Heritage Baptist Church in Locust Grove. He enjoyed being outside, planting gardens, and all that God created. He was a man devoted to serving God in all areas of life, from cooking at special events at his church to preaching in prison ministry at various prisons. He truly rejoiced in seeing people’s lives changed in only ways that could be done by God. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sister, Edith Faye Culpepper.
James is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pam Tullis; children and their spouses, Anthony and Tiffany Tullis, Amanda and Kris Dawkins; grandchildren, Kody Dawkins, Emma Tullis, Isabella Tullis, Wade Dawkins and Katie Beth Dawkins; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Bill Fox, Lanelle and Walter Paul.
Funeral services for Mr. James Tullis will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Heritage Baptist Church with Pastor Terrell Hopkins and Pastor Kris Dawkins officiating. Interment will follow in Jackson City Cemetery. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heritage Baptist Church C/O Mercy Mountain Girls Home, 1843 Peeksville Road Locust Grove, Georgia 30248 in memory of Mr. James Tullis.
