The Stockbridge City Council voted at its September 28 workshop meeting to approve a $620,660 bid for repair work to a portion of the local water system. The work to be done by Allsouth Constructors Inc. is focusing on the Mays Crossing lift station and force main which serves a number of commercial properties on Hwy. 138 just west of North Henry Boulevard and east of I-675. Rehabilitation of the lift station will include the installation of approximately 900 linear feet of six-inch force main, according to a city staff report, with a variety of materials and equipment being utilized.
The council also approved up to $250,000 for landscaping work in a number of areas around the city. The contract awarded to Yellowstone Landscape – Southeast LLC is for “general grounds keeping, horticultural maintenance, irrigation and cleanup of landscape areas, repairs to vandalism, irrigation systems and replacement of plant materials,” according to a city staff report. Staff comments at the meeting indicated that the affected areas include City Hall, Municipal Court, the new amphitheater, the new public works building, Merle Manders Conference Center, Ted Strickland Community Center, and certain streetscapes and other locations.
