Charles Merwin Cox
Charles Cox, age 89, of Hampton, Ga., passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Sacred Journey Hospice in McDonough. Born on the family farm in Richlands, NC on January 1, 1932, Charles was the son of Elmer Grayson and Rosabelle Lee Cox. Charles served the United States Army in Germany during the Korean War. An avid mechanic, he retired in 1987 from Ford Motor Company Manufacturing Plant in Hapeville, GA as the superintendent of the body shop. He was a whiz at lawnmower repair and test drove Ford vehicles all over the United States after retirement. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, cutting grass, and cooking for the family. Breakfast was his favorite meal, and he served it immediately with a twinkle in his eye to anyone who was lucky enough to be at the house first thing in the morning. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy, two brothers (Elmer Lee Cox and Lewis Cox), and one sister, Christine Cox Baggett Taylor.
He is survived by two sons, Steve (Amanda) of McDonough and Mark (Melissa) of Wilmington, NC, two sisters-in-law (Mary and Nancy), three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and various nieces and nephews.
The family is planning a memorial service for a later date.

Sarah Ellen Gilbert Waters, age 92, of McDonough, Ga., passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021. She was born in Brilliant, Ala., to the late Charles Wheeler Gilbert and Flora Gruner Gilbert. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Letitia (L. R.) Deerman; brother, Charles Wheeler (Mary Jo) Gilbert Jr.; husband and father of her children, Herman B. Waters; and twin great-granddaughters.
Mrs. Waters is survived by her daughters, Sandra Waters (J. Wayne) Phillips and Becky Karen (Howard) Waters; granddaughters Wendy Phillips (Kevin) McDaniel and Chelsea R. (Joe) Hill; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert “Bob” H. (Carolyn) Gilbert; several nieces, nephews, and loved ones.

Richard Lloyd Turner
Richard Lloyd Turner, age 80, of Sevierville, Tenn., formerly of Hampton, Ga., passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. He was a member of Jodeo Road United Methodist Church. He worked for Lucent Technologies (Western Electric, AT&T). He was a veteran of the United States Army and the Army National Guard. He enjoyed woodworking and square dancing. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Rachel Brown Turner.
Survivors: Wife of 52 years: Virginia Collis Turner; Daughters: Angie Turner and Loretta Davila; Granddaughter: Sarah Davila; Sister: Joyce Jenkins; Brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Mike Collis, Mary Royster, Joe and Nancy C. Hyatt; Several nieces and nephews.
