A portion of the budget process in Hampton has been altered by COVID-19 concerns.
A budget workshop and public hearing have been postponed one week by city officials “due to COVID-19 exposure precautions,” according to a statement.
The workshop originally scheduled for last week is set for Friday, September 17, at 9 a.m. That will be followed by a public hearing Tuesday, September 21, at 6 p.m. The public hearing was initially to be held September 14.
First reading of the budget ordinance will be Tuesday, September 28, at 6 p.m. The second reading and adoption are scheduled for Wednesday, September 29, at 6 p.m. Both of those events are unchanged schedule-wise.
All of these meetings are to take place at the Depot in downtown Hampton and the public is invited to attend.
The budget will cover the 2022 fiscal year which begins October 1 and ends September 30, 2022. A copy of the proposed budget can be viewed beginning September 17 in person at City Hall or online at hamptonga.gov.
