I loved watching my children grow up. I learned so many new things and we had SO much fun! And then, along came the next generation. They just keep amazing me, these grandchildren. I still smile as I remember watching Melissa’s volleyball games. She really amazed me when I saw her helping some toddlers with a house they were trying to build instead of dining and chatting with the rest of her teammates. She also taught me some good exercises for my broken wrist and I’m now using them to help me get healed completely. I was also lucky that Matthew had some time off work and could take me to therapy sessions. I was trying to decide if I should drive myself to my heart doctor this month and saw it might rain. He gladly agreed to take me and I am very blessed for his kindness that day, because, there were no parking spots at all!
e let me off at the front door and had to park across the street. With my not-quite-well hip, I would have never made it that far on foot … another PTL!
Sam usually comes on Monday and takes out my trash and recycles. She comes back on Tuesday afternoon and brings the big bins back up next to the house. I’m grateful that Tyler came and filled in for her one week too. Ron brings me the AJC off the driveway or porch, which is really important if it has rained lately. Of course Ron, Sam, and Leslie were spending time here with Norman while I was at Sylvan Grove, thank goodness. Leslie took me to church every Sunday and then we found he had a weekend outing he’d planned, so I drove myself. It’s neat that he works at Henry Transit and acquainted me with their system so I could get to more therapy sessions as the healing was going a tad slow.
Whenever I have any computer or phone problems, I just ask my sweet grands and they always know exactly what to do and sometimes fix it for me. It’s great that they can also talk me through it on the phone. I still recall having a tech guy in India helping me when I was working online via my laptop. He ALWAYS knew the way to correct the issues and get me back up and running. He actually told me one time to take the battery out, wait 10 seconds and then it should work. He was right!
I revisited another memory lately, and a very fun one! After Norman’s stroke, I didn’t feel comfortable being gone for very long and knew I couldn’t maneuver his wheelchair around the Square so we gave up the Geranium Festival … sigh. And then one year, Tyler and his friend Alexis parked in the driveway, had their fun and returned with a container full of fried veggies! That was a couple of years ago and I loved the food. Sadly, the festival got cancelled last year. But, thankfully this year it was on again and they went again this year, along with daughter Sam. They parked in the Henry Hilton driveway and strolled up to the Square. After their fun, they came inside with a GREAT surprise – something I’d never tasted. I ate my first fried Oreo, and it was delicious! I also received an awesome tray of fried pickles with a tasty dip. I had already seen the booths and the huge crowds, thanks to Facebook and other internet sites. I couldn’t have stood the heat and I’m still not quite 100% stable anyway, so they brought me joy and I didn’t move a muscle!
I LOVE my crew, and I’m a very lucky lady. Thanks to all for the Geranium Festival!
