I love to watch “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy” every night and get out my note pad and a pen so I can keep score. But then…NO WHEEL AND JEOPARDY two nights in a row! The last time this happened there was a message that told me which channel I could go to for my evening addictions. Not this time! Oh well, I’ll just watch the Braves from the first inning. Nope! That changed to a different channel, but when I went to that number, it said I was not signed up and I knew that would increase my cable bill. SIGH! I went to Spectrum last month and cancelled our old account in Norman’s name, and the kind representative who helped me found a discount that will last for two years. So, I am saving a good bit of money by doing that and not adding any odd channels. I got on my laptop and checked on the Braves score a few times and they did well … but I didn’t get to see any amazing home runs!
Interestingly enough, I had seen my son Don on Facebook sighing because his cable was off due to some wires being accidentally cut by a construction company. I wondered why it would bother him that he couldn’t watch the Hawks. Well, I soon knew how he felt! I did try to go online and find another channel I could go to for my evening enjoyment and education, but nope, no way to contact them. I was glad I had just gone back to the library for the first time this year and had a new Mary Kay Andrews novel to keep my mind occupied and entertained. Of course I can always turn on my radio and listen to WJGA but I am so used to my evening television shows! It’s almost like I’m still working. I run on a very consistent schedule. I get up, do my morning work outs after dressing. Then cook breakfast and brew the coffee after I take my medications. Next I turn on my laptop and check Facebook for today’s birthdays and the latest posts from friends and family. Then I check my e-mail; LOVE God Minutes; and on Saturdays, they usually have some funny lines found in church bulletins and signs. Then I do a few Publishers Clearing House puzzles. A lot of their puzzles are about history, movies, and more. I always enjoy them and usually learn something too. But, so far I have NOT won the thousand dollars a day for life they keep bragging about and offering to me.
More fun when I hear the mailman’s little Ford pull away from my box! I love finding my weekly newspapers and a few monthly magazines, but I’m not crazy about all the offers to donate money. I do open them though, and if it’s a charity I love, I’ll scan my checkbook to see when I last donated. I always support certain police organizations, and just a few more companies that I know can be trusted. After I dump the rest of the requests in the recycle bin, I enjoy reading the local news, then working a crossword puzzle. I’m still praying for my HCT to stay afloat and go back to their weekly issues too.
I did have some more fun this week. I got the Camry back, then made a grocery list and took off – first to Walgreens and then to Publix. I’m amazed at how Publix has changed, but for the good. They still have my favorite foods, and now self-checkout. And again, I wonder what’s next?
