The task of feeding senior residents in Henry County recently secured some much-needed help, thanks to the charitable efforts of local golfers.
The Atlanta Pinseekers, a men’s golf association, donated funds to benefit the Henry County Senior Services’ Meals on Wheels Program. The $1,000 donation came on May 22 during a charity golf tournament at Crystal Lake Golf and Country Club in Hampton.
TAP member Arnold Cole of Hampton said his group, in 2020, formed a foundation to raise money for charitable causes.
“One of the goals of TAP, along with playing golf, is to raise funds for a nonprofit in Henry County,” said Cole. “I, along with members of TAP, organized a raffle/fundraiser in April. The golf tournament and venue at Crystal Lake Golf and Country Club was used to present a check of $1,000 to Henry County Senior Services’ Meals on Wheels Program.”
Cole’s wife, Anneka, is on the Henry County Council on Aging and served on its the fundraising committee. Arnold Cole said Anneka had advised him of funding issues for her organization.
“Due to COVID-19, they weren’t able to raise funds from the Miles for Meals walk this year,” said Arnold Cole. “She asked if TAP could support Senior Services’ Meals on Wheels program.”
Arnold Cole said it was an honor to provide assistance, “big or small,” to help Meals on Wheels.
Monica Stinson, program manager of Food Services for Henry County, received the TAP Foundation’s donation during the festivities at the golf tournament. Stinson expressed her gratitude for their generosity.
“Due to COVID there has been an increase in MOW participants,” said Stinson. “Any additional funds/resource is a blessing that helps us to serve the seniors of Henry County.”
