A $1.26 million contract for maintenance work on Stockbridge roads was approved by the City Council at its May 10 regular meeting. The bid award went to East Coast Grading, Inc. for work on the city’s Local Maintenance Improvement Grant list, which includes, but is not limited to the repair and resurfacing of approximately 6.2 miles of local roads, according to a city staff report. The cost is being shared, with $1,002,387.88 coming from the city’s SPLOST account and the remaining $260,854.32 to be paid by the Georgia Department of Transportation.
In other business, a $302,800 change order was approved for piping and other equipment at the wastewater treatment plant, as well as $25,606 allocated for the installation of several surveillance cameras and assorted equipment to provide security. An annual monitoring fee of $3,249 was also approved related to the surveillance cameras and equipment. The council also approved up to $200,000 to be spent on office furniture for the city’s new public works facility.
An agreement was reached to utilize four nearby digital billboards to advertise city events. The deal with Link Media Outdoor runs through Jan. 31, 2022 and will cost the city $37,700. According to a city staff report, the plan is to target residents of Stockbridge and the surrounding area regarding city events and facilities that may be of interest to them.
Two billboards on I-285 near Forest Park and two billboards on I-75 near McDonough have been identified for use. Each one will show a minimum of 1,080 ten-second ads per day, according to officials.
All of the above expenditures were approved by unanimous vote.
