McDonough bookstore, Story on The Square, is celebrating teachers and the difficult school year they are experiencing. The store will be giving away posters by Savannah artist, Panhandle Slim to any Henry County teachers (public and private) while supplies last.
Slim refers to himself as an ARTIST for FOLK rather than a traditional folk artist. His works, which depict famous people with a quotation, are well known in the Savannah area. This particular work is of Amanda Gorman with the final lines of her poem ‘The Hill We Climb,’ that she read on Inauguration Day. According to the artist, he did this work as a gift to teachers and has been giving them away in his local area. Stop by Story on The Square at 19 Griffin Street in McDonough and identify yourself as a Henry County teacher (just show your school ID) for your free poster. No purchase is required.
Story on the Square is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. and on Sunday from noon until 6 p.m. For more information, call the store at 678-759-0079.
