In response to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Stockbridge has received CARES Act funding to implement the Stockbridge CARES Act Grant. This is a small business grant program designed to support the needs of eligible Stockbridge businesses directly impacted by COVID-19. Starting immediately, the City of Stockbridge will now accept online submissions from City businesses that previously received funding from the CARES Act Grant Funding from entities other than the City of Stockbridge; thus, businesses that may have previously received a Small Relief Grant or Paycheck Protection Program funding are eligible to apply for City of Stockbridge funds. On behalf of the City of Stockbridge, the Henry County Chamber of Commerce will accept and review submitted applications from businesses licensed in Stockbridge. The Stockbridge CARES Act Grant will provide grants up to $10,000 per business to eligible small businesses.
Grant funding can be used for working capital to support payroll expenses, rent, mortgage payments, utility expenses or other similar expenses incurred by the businesses between March 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020. Physical copies of the application will not be accepted. Additionally, to receive grant funding, eligible businesses must:
•Be a for-profit business licensed in the City of Stockbridge, Georgia
•Have 20 or fewer employees
•Be in an industry that has been affected by the COVID-19 emergency
•Demonstrate the incurred income loss because of the COVID-19 emergency
•Demonstrate the need for working capital for eligible expenses (see below for eligible expenses)
Grant funds must be used for expenditures incurred by the eligible business between March 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020 that meet the following criteria:
•Necessary expenditures incurred due to the public health emergency with respect to COVID-19 (such as resulting from employment or business interruptions due to COVID-19);
•Used for its working capital to support payroll expenses, rent, mortgage payments, utility expenses, or costs incurred by the business that are related to reopening the eligible business.
“COVID-19 has impacted so many businesses and the City of Stockbridge looks forward to supporting those community businesses that need the assistance,” said Stockbridge City Manager Randy Knighton. “The City encourages all business operators to stay informed with the latest news concerning our funding for the CARES Act Grant Program. We are all in this together and we must support the business community as it serves as a critical dynamic for our historical City.”
