The Connecting Henry Students Working to Achieve Greatness Program is proud to announce its new partnership with Henry County Schools. In October, the S.W.A.G. Program moved to a new location inside the Henry County Learning and Support Center at Henry County Middle School.
Henry County Schools granted S.W.A.G. six classrooms that will serve as instructional space for its GED and Work Ready classes, along with career and training development courses.
“We are truly excited about the new space because it allows more flexibility with scheduling classes and incorporating training programs. We could not meet with our students face-to-face in our old building because of our social distancing inability. Thanks to Henry County Schools, there’s plenty of space for the students to move around! We are thankful for their support and commitment to our program’s growth and success,” said S.W.A.G. Program Director James Williams.
S.W.A.G. is a free workforce program for Henry County out-of-school youth, ages 16-24, and is the only provider in Henry County to offer free GED services and testing. The program equips each participant with the skills and resources necessary to be successful in the workforce. S.W.A.G. also offers short-term nationally recognized credential training and assistance to further their education.
Along with training courses, S.W.A.G. offers a paid Work Experience (WEx) to its participants. During WEx, participants can enter the real workforce and explore industries of interest to them, leading to the development of soft skills required for positive employment results.
Classes held Monday – Wednesday, 9 a.m. until 12:50 p.m., and Thursday, 9 a.m. until 11:50 a.m. are operating via a hybrid schedule due to COVID-19.
