Connecting Henry will be hosting a Lend a Helping Hand Day of Service event on Saturday, November 14, to assist an elderly couple in McDonough that is in great need of yard clean-up assistance.
“We hope to rally the community to come out and show support to a neighbor in need,” said Barbara Coleman, Connecting Henry Executive Director.
The wife is a full-time caregiver for her husband and has recently been unable to maintain care of her yard.
“I’m the caregiver of a husband that had a stroke several years ago, and he has dementia. It’s a full-time job caring for him, and I have arthritis. I just don’t have any strength in my hands so, I really can’t use them for much,” said the wife. “I’d be really grateful if I can get some help to get our yard under control.”
Connecting Henry is looking for volunteers to lend a helping hand and donate their time, equipment, and lawn-maintenance expertise to help clean up the couple’s yard that is severely overgrown with weeds and brush.
The project’s needed equipment includes chainsaws, lawn rakes, lawnmowers, weed eaters, blowers, a bush hog, and a bush hog operator.
The Lend a Helping Hand Day of Service will begin at 9 a.m. in McDonough. Connecting Henry will release the couple’s address to volunteers after they have signed up to participate in the event on the website.
