Special to the Times
Due to the success of the first and second Farmers to Families Food Box Distribution event, the McDonough Lions Club and the City of McDonough have partnered together again to host a third event on Saturday, October 24 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. This free service, which provides boxes of fresh produce to residents, will be located in the parking lot of the McDonough High School. Please note that there is limited availability, with one box allowed per family, and once all of the boxes have been distributed, the event will conclude.
Participating residents will be directed to drive up to a station where a volunteer will load the box directly into the vehicle. The approximately twenty-pound box will contain locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables. It is expected that there will be a total of 1,920 boxes distributed during this event containing produce items such as carrots, sweet potatoes, green cabbage, lettuce, lemons, yellow squash, apples, oranges, etc. Please note that specific items depend on availability.
If you are interested in volunteering for this event, please contact Beverly Coley via email at tinglin51@yahoo.com or by phone at (770)689-6509. Volunteers must wear a mask and gloves, use hand sanitizer as needed, and comply with social distancing guidelines. A mask and gloves will be provided for any volunteers who do not already have them.
