In response to the huge crowds that have turned out so far for early voting in Henry County, four locations are opening nine days earlier than originally scheduled.
The county elections board convened on Tuesday afternoon in a special called meeting and unanimously approved opening the polls Thursday, October 15, at J.P. Moseley Recreation Center, Fairview Recreation Center, Locust Grove Library and Fortson Library in Hampton. They will be open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday; 7 a.m.-7 p.m. the week of October 19-23; 9 a.m.-4 p.m. October 24; and 1-5 p.m. October 25.
Voting began yesterday at the county elections headquarters in McDonough as well as the Merle Manders Conference Center in Stockbridge. Both locations saw crowds that required voters to wait several hours at certain times.
All six locations will be open as originally scheduled the week of October 26-30.
Very impressed with the voting experience today at 40 Atlanta St. The entire team inside and outside the location was very helpful, kind and friendly. Everybody was ready to help and guide you through the process. It took us only 12 minutes to vote!!! Thank you to all of you (including the police officers) for such an smooth experience.
