Dear Editor,

How can we possibly believe, as the Louisville, Kentucky Police Department wants us to believe, that shooting Brianna Taylor not once, but six times, after breaking into her home with a No-Knock warrant, was justified? Why is her partner accused of anything at all, after firing a single shot at an intruder who had broken down a door and entered the home unannounced? Would any of us not do exactly the same thing in a similar situation?

After the District Attorney announced on September 23 that the intrusion into Ms. Taylor’s apartment was justified because the police were executing a legal warrant, protestors took to the streets in thousands, not only in the U.S. but other countries as well. People were showing their outrage that justice had been deliberately, and willfully, perverted. A young woman who worked daily as an EMT had been shot six times for no reason at all by the persons who are paid to protect us. Why?

Will we hear from the President? Does he understand the need of the people for proper leadership and action? Not a display of military force, rather a need for coming together and establishing fair justice for all: our entire world is in great peril, and is begging for great leadership. Will it be President Trump? Or V.P. Joe Biden? Or the leader of some other country?

McDonough
