Joseph Alfonso Armenta, Sr.
Mr. Joseph Alfonso Armenta, Sr., age 77, of McDonough, Ga., passed away August 22, 2020. He was born on March 14, 1943 in Monte Vista, Calif., to Alfonso and Amelia Armenta. Joe was a proud US Navy veteran and retired in 1992 after 42 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, cars, crocheting lap blankets and German Shepherds. Joe liked to collect stamps, coins, wolfs and eagles and he was a proud Native American.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Martha Armenta, children, Theresa (Jesse) Jinkins of Locust Grove and Joe (Teri) Armenta, Jr., of McDonough. Four grandchildren, Cleo, Alexa, Kaitlyn and Joseph Armenta, III. Joe was preceded in death by his son, Herman Armenta, thirteen siblings and his parents.
A memorial service for Joe will be held Saturday, September 5, 2020 from 3 until 5 p.m. at the Heritage Park Veterans Museum and Memorial Wall. Shirley Alene Grier
Shirley Alene Grier, age 80, of McDonough, Ga., passed away Monday, August 24, 2020. She was born in Charleston, Miss., on Wednesday, August 7, 1940, to the late Calvin Kilbert and L.E. (Fillyaw) Dahl. Shirley was a devout Christian and long-time member of New Hope Baptist Church. She later joined the Ole Country Church in McDonough after her move to Henry County. She was an avid tennis player and loved to shop and spend time with family and friends. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Grier; companion, Joseph Runnels; four brothers and one sister.
Shirley is survived by daughters, Gwen Grier of Tucker, Cynthia (Rick) Gardner of McDonough, and Katrina (Travis) Winkles of Fayetteville; grandsons, Tyler and Hunter; bonus granddaughters, Kristy (Anthony) Gaylor and their family, and Kimberly Gardner; sisters, Liz (Noah) Thurman and Sheila Jackson; and sisters-in-law, Carolyn Law and Debbie (Mark) Englehart.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home in Fayetteville, with Dr. Ike Reighard and Pastor Robert Vines officiating. David Timothy Gregg
Mr. David Timothy “Tim” Gregg, age 61, of Hampton, Ga., passed away Sunday, August 30, 2020 at Piedmont Atlanta. Tim was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 6, 1958. He was a plumber by trade. His parents Daniel W. Gregg and Jeanette Johnson Gregg, along with brother-in-law, Harold McLendon; sister-in-law, Cynthia Gregg and a nephew all preceded him in death.
He is survived by siblings, Janis McLendon, Daniel Gregg, Jr., Pam Bass and husband, Danny, Mark Gregg and wife, Janet; 7 nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews.
