Since the announcement that in-person public meetings were suspended by county officials after some employees exposure to COVID-19, several agenda items at a Henry County Board of Commissioners meeting were postponed and the most recently scheduled Zoning Advisory Board meeting was cancelled.

Four planning and zoning items that require public hearings were removed from the agenda for the commissioners’ July 7 regular meeting, which was conducted via video conference:

SK Property Holdings II, LLC of McDonough, requesting a modification to zoning conditions for properties totaling 24 acres on Jonesboro Road and Mt. Carmel Road, to allow additional uses.

Dr. Mao’s Health Investment, LLC of Monterey Park, Calif., requesting a rezoning from general commercial to office-Institutional for a 1.7-acre site at 931 Rock Quarry Road, to permit an assisted living and hospice care facility.

Mandalay Properties, Inc. of McDonough, requesting a rezoning from residential-agricultural to single-family residence) for 11.2 acres south of Dailey Mill Road and east of Dailey Walk, for a single-family residential subdivision.

Championship Martial Arts of McDonough, requesting a modification to zoning conditions for properties totaling 3.45 acres at 2327-2351 Jonesboro Road, to allow additional uses.

Two other public hearings regarding county DOT agenda items were postponed. They involve the abandonment and possible sale of 0.69 acres of right-of-way on Jodeco Road.

As for the ZAB, a notice was posted on the county website last week stating that its July 9 regular meeting “has been cancelled as a precaution and safety measure related to COVID-19. The meeting will be re-advertised and the items will be heard at a later date.”

  Three agenda items were affected:

•Buckley Carson of Dallas, Tex., requesting a variance from development standards for 76.73 acres at 761 Clark Drive, for relief from the required physical roadway infrastructure improvements.

•ARP Holdings, LLC of Conyers, GA requesting a rezoning from office-institutional to general commercial for 8.43 acres south of Hwy. 20 West and east of Simpson Mill Road, for a retail center.

•TRG Hwy 155 Investors, LLC of McDonough, requesting a rezoning from residential-agricultural and single-family residence to RS (residential suburban) for 70.24 acres west of Hwy. 155 North and north of Town Square Drive, for a mixed single-family residential and townhome development.

The July 21 regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners was still on schedule at press time.
