In partnership with the City of McDonough Police Department, neighbors residing on Low, Brannan, Harris, Carmichael, and Woodruff Streets held their first Neighborhood Watch meeting on Saturday, June 13.
Neighborhood Watch Programs are designed to reduce crime by increasing communication among residents, educating citizens on crime prevention, and strengthening the partnership between the community and local law enforcement.
In addition to responding to questions, Acting Chief of Police Ken Noble emphasized the importance of neighbors simply looking out for each other, stating “By bringing residents together with a unified goal of ensuring a safe neighborhood, we are able to help increase the quality of life for members of the community.”
Also in attendance to represent the City of McDonough were Mayor Pro Tem and District Three Councilmember Craig Elrod, District Two Councilmember Sandra Vincent, and City Administrator Preston Dorsey.
Councilmember Vincent stated, “Neighborhoods are the bedrock of our society. When the safety of our citizens and their property is threatened, it is important to provide the tools which support safety and the quality of life. This is the second Neighborhood Watch in District 2 and I am proud to be a part of making this a reality.”
