Arnoud Donker of McDonough took a trip to Europe last year and made several stops to take photos with the Times. On the left, he is shown during a celebration of The SS Rotterdam’s 60th anniversary.

The ship’s maiden voyage went from Rotterdam to New York where it was put into service as the flagship of the Holland America Line. “I had the privilege to attend the gala dinner which was held that evening onboard the original SS Rotterdam on September 3, 2019 (exactly 60 years after the date of the journey),” said Arnoud.

The photo on the right was taken during a sightseeing trip in the Swiss Alps at the Furkapass. The Furkapass is well known for its scenery and it was also featured in the James Bond movie “Goldfinger.”
