The Henry County Library System is once again offering free summer meals to-go at all library locations.
Meals are available for kids age 18 and under, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m., to 6 p.m. While supplies last, residents can pick up a week’s worth of shelf-stable breakfasts and lunches per child.
The library system has offered the meal program for the last several years, said Marketing Manager Joy Caldwell. She acknowledged that COVID-19 makes this year’s endeavor particularly unique.
“For several years, the Henry County libraries have been offering summer lunch during summer reading, and we’re thrilled to still be able to offer summer lunches this year, even if it’s a bit different this year,” said Caldwell. “This year we have meals to-go available at curbside pick up at all five Henry County libraries. Rather than one meal, each to-go kit features seven days of shelf stable meals for kids 18 and under. Summer meals will be available through the end of July.”
Due to high demand for books, residents are asked to call ahead to check availability.
Caldwell said additional programs at the library system this summer have changed significantly from past years, due to coronavirus concerns locally and nationwide.
“In this unprecedented time, we’ve adapted to provide curbside pick-up of holds, an online summer reading program, storytime videos on YouTube and Facebook and summer meals to-go,” she said.
Residents can reserve a book bundle from numerous topics and genres by calling 678-432-5353, and pick the books up when they are ready. For library locations and more information, visit henrylibraries.org.
