Resident pens poem on COVID-19

Twas the night before COVID; when life seemed all right.

But soon I discovered our Nation would fight!

An invisible enemy had made an attack.

And in defense, “we must push it back.”

A pretty red ball was shown on TV; looked a flower bouquet to see.

But sight did not fool me, for beneath that facade, was danger and death if careful you’re not.

So now to my wondering; “what should I do?” Buy a mask? Stay at home? Wash my hands every few?

The scientists are busy: the news in a whirl; “SOCIAL DISTANCING,” that’s the new word.

Stay out of crowds: this disease spreads fast.

Oh my, “How long will this last?”

Kids out of school – folks out of work; but caregivers, doctors and others “ON CALL” risking their lives as the days drag along.

Many lost lives: “How many will die?” Just watching and waiting: with rules I’ll comply.

“We’ll get through this together” is the slogan I hear; so with “Love, Hope and Faith,” we will fight against fear.
